Starting today, April 3rd, Filene’s Basement starts their world-famous Bridal Event:

“The Running of the Brides”….

Never heard of this??? Here’s the low-down:

An annual event held only in selected stores (Boston and Washington, DC have it twice a year, though), brides and their “supporters” line up early outside the department store door — sometimes even the night before. When the doors open, brides have to run towards the racks and grab as many dresses as they can to try on. Why the running?? Well, not only is this event very well attended by hundreds (thousands?) of brides, but the (potentially 3000 available) dresses are designer dresses as low as $250 and up to $700! It’s been recorded that in less than 60 seconds, the racks are completely bare and there is women changing and dresses flying everywhere! A few minutes later, if a bride hadn’t found the dress she wanted, then there is some potential trading going on.

So, if you are a bride on a budget or just want to get a fabulous deal…..here are the dates for the event:

April 3rd – Washington, DC
July 24th, Chicago, IL
July 31st – Washington, DC
August 21st – Boston, MA
October 16th, Cleveland, OH

How I love thee….let me count the ways…

…so the wedding day is supposed to be the ONE special day of your life, eh??? Well, this couple have renewed their vows, not once, twice or even three times…

David and Lauren Blair of Tennesse, USA married for the 97th time in 2004 in Las Vegas. Their “first” wedding was in 1984, so in the 20 years, they’ve married (remarried) each other about an average of 4.7 times a year — every season perhaps! That would be a really cool thing — to say “well, for my Spring 2005 wedding, we really wanted to go with a “Asian red” theme because at our Winter 2004 wedding, we had so many red tablecloths left over…

That’s almost a wedding planner’s dream. Almost.

The couple had three weddings the first week they were married (first, at Universal Studios where they met, then in Chicago where family lived and then again on their honeymoon in Las Vegas). It’s kind of cool, for once David proposes, they set a $100 budget, get new outfits, find a location and gain another anniversary date!

Which leads me to think — David has no problem asking “Will you….” but does he remember all the anniversaries??! 🙂

The Wedding Game….

Browsing on the internet for wedding related things, I came across this interesting bit of fun…

WOW! This is me and my job…virtually! 🙂

So, if you have extra time on your hands or you want to play “Wedding Planner for the Day”, try your hand at the Dream Day Wedding computer game. Part adventure game, part virtual Martha Stewart…you seek out all the aspects of your best friend “Jenny”s wedding and even have to deal with some wedding planning crisis along the way! You also get to “decide” how the couple met, what they did on their first date and how the proposal went!

As you discover, there are so many decisions to be made when planning for your big day. This can be made even more stressful when you are planning a destination wedding, have less than a year to plan or your dream venue is already booked! What you will usually find is that most of the decisions in wedding planning usually affect each other — talk about a domino effect! For example, your parents are very keen on inviting Aunt Josephine * and her large family of seven and they accepted even before you had a chance to think about it with your fiance! Now, with the additional seven people, that means that you need an additional table at the venue, another centerpiece, another linen set, out of town accomodations,  and oh yeah, how many favors?!

Whew! Are you exhausted, overwhelmed or tired just from reading that?! Fortunately for me, I love those types of crises and that’s what you hire me for! I will get that all under control, smoothly and confidentely.

See! If you have the right wedding coordinator, planning your wedding is so much more fun!

So give me a call. 🙂
